PRESS RELEASE

2019 TEXAS MASTER NATURALIST PROGRAM ANNOUNCED

Registration for the Hays County Master Naturalist Class for 2019 opens from November 26, 2018 – January 7, 2019.  Applications can be downloaded from the Hays County Master Naturalist website (http://haysmn.org) beginning November 26, 2018. This certification program is offered only one time per year in Hays County.  As a Master Naturalist, you join a corps of volunteers dedicated to learning about the beneficial management of our natural resources and natural areas.  Students and graduates of this program volunteer for more than 50 projects around Hays County such as Jacob’s Well in Wimberley, the Greenbelt Alliance in San Marcos, and Charro Ranch Park in Dripping Springs.  You decide based on your interests.  Classes run February - October and are rotated throughout the county.  Nine classes are on Tuesday evenings from 6:00- 9:30 p.m. with dinner included.  Three classes are held on Saturday mornings.  There are also additional Field Trips and Site Visits for hands-on experience.  Tuition is $175 and there are a few $100 scholarships for Hays County residents.  Applying early in the registration period is strongly recommended, since enrollment is limited and reviewed based on when applications are received.  Applications must include a $25 deposit, which will be applied toward the tuition.

Contact the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Office or visit the Hays County Master Naturalist website (http://haysmn.org) for more information on the Texas Master Naturalist Program.
