As of April 14th, 41 chapter members have joined the HaysMN Forum. We hope that many more of you will join and participate. It's your online discussion group, and it's value depends on your participation.

This page contains the information that was sent to everyone on the Hays County Master Naturalis email list in early April, 2008 inviting them to join the HaysMN Forum Google Group, an online discussion group where we can interactively exchange and distribute information among our members. Membership is restricted to members and students of the Hays County Chapter of the Texas Master Naturalist program and others on our email list, and is by invitation only.

If you are a member of the Hays County Chapter of the the Texas Master Naturalist program, and wish to participate in the forum, but haven't received your invitation or can't find it, please let me know.

When you look at the forum site, you'll see that we've already added a number of items as examples of how we can use the site.

A few basics:

• Discussions - posting may be made by any group member, and replies made by any member. Once posted these cannot be changed, only deleted - like email. Please feel free to post anything that pertains to the mission and interests of the the Master Naturalist program.
• Pages - may be created and edited by any member at any time. Pages can be long-term reference information that is developed collaboratively by the group. Pages can contain images and links to other files that you upload.
• Files - may be images or other files of interest, and may be viewed or accessed from a Page.
• Members - the list of members can be viewed only by other members. It's up to you how much information you wish to put in your profile.

In order to access the forum, you must have responded to an email invitation from googlegroups.com inviting you to join the group. In the process of signing up, you will need to create a free Google account (not email) if you don't have one already. This will then allow you to access the site. Once on the site, if you click the "Edit my membership" link, you'll see that you have a number of options for receiving postings to the group via email, if you so choose.
